For the final installment of our “Get to Know the Castlight Interns” series, we meet Jonathan Tran. Jonathan interned with our IT Department and was able to get up close and personal with laptops, presentation screens, WebEx, and more. Let’s hear what else he was up to!
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
My name is Jonathan Tran and I attend Diablo Valley Community College. I was born and raised in San Francisco, which sets me apart from 96% of the people living here. In my spare time, I enjoy watching anime films.
What have you gotten out of your experience with Castlight this summer?
Learning how to troubleshoot complex technical problems is one thing. More importantly, I learned how to deal with stressful or high pressure situations and provide thoughtful support to my colleagues if their computers were acting up.
How would you break down your role at Castlight for a non-tech savvy pal?
I fixed computers when they broke and helped my fellow co-workers remain calm throughout the process.
What advice would you give to someone looking to intern in the health tech space?
One of my team members told me: “Even if you are unsure how to fix it, it is important to act confident.” I would advise anyone hoping to go into the tech world, particularly in IT, to practice your poker face now. You’re going to need it.
If you were a Disney character, what animal sidekick would you choose and why?
I would probably choose Fix-It Felix from Wreck It Ralph. I haven’t seen the movie, but I’m given to understand that he fixes things. I do too.
