It is no secret that Houston is the nation’s home of the oil & gas industry. Come to think of it, you’d be hard-pressed to find a car owner who hasn’t driven out of their way to find a cheaper gas station pump! And that’s not all. Our recent research discovered that common medical procedure prices were inconsistent here as well.
Costliest procedure: Mammogram. In our set of top 30 cities, Space City comes in as the 10th priciest on average ($283).
Curious fact: Houston has the fourth widest price range for a lipid panel. Houstonians can pay anywhere from $18 to $387 for this run-of-the-mill procedure – nearly a 22x difference!
