Costliest city of the week: NYC

In case you haven’t heard, last week we released our Costliest Cities 2015 research, revealing just how much the price of the same medical service can vary depending on which provider you select.

This week we drill down into NYC — the largest of the top 30 U.S. cities we’ll be casting some light on over the coming weeks. Need proof that it pays to shop around for healthcare in NYC? Continue reading to learn more!

Costliest procedure: The mammogram. The Big Apple has the 6th most expensive average price ($371) for this procedure out of the 30 cities analyzed.

Curious fact: New York has the widest price range for a lipid panel by far. A resident could pay anywhere from $14 to $1,070 for the same test – that’s a whopping 76x difference!
