apree health Appoints Marla McLaughlin as Chief Medical Officer
SEATTLE – July 10, 2025 – apree health, a Mosaic Health company, and the leader in transformative healthcare solutions, today announced that Marla McLaughlin, MD has been named chief medical officer (CMO) for the company and its Castlight Health and Vera Whole Health brands. McLaughlin, who previously served as associate CMO, will now lead apree health’s initiatives to strengthen clinical operations, improve care quality, enhance patient and care team experience, and support the expansion of digital navigation and advanced primary care solutions.

McLaughlin joined apree health as a regional lead physician in 2019, serving as clinical lead for COVID-19 operations during the pandemic. She then became regional medical director in 2021, providing clinical oversight of the company’s Central and Eastern regional providers and care centers. In 2022, McLaughlin was named associate chief medical officer, a role in which she drove clinical training, consulted on all new contracts including shared savings and global risk and overall medical directors. Through her work on quality improvement (QI) initiatives and accurate documentation, McLaughlin helped the company attain five Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) metrics in the top 90th percentile and two others in the 75th percentile. She also collaborated directly with employers to help them understand and manage specific strategic priorities to address the health of their employee population utilizing real-time clinical data.
Prior to joining Vera Whole Health, McLaughlin was a family medicine physician at Cerner Health Clinic in Kansas City, Mo.
A board-certified family medicine physician, McLaughlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Missouri, Columbia; and a Doctor of Medicine from University of Missouri, Columbia Medical School, then served as chief resident at Baptist Lutheran Family Medicine.
